“My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge...” Hosea 4:6 ESV
Many people have major misconceptions about God because they form their beliefs off of their own emotions because of their life experiences, what they see in the world, what they hear at church, what they read in Christian books, Christian devotionals, what their family says, what’s posted on Facebook or other social media. They go everywhere for answers except the Bible and when they do, many go into it with preconceived notions, a stubborn heart and ignore the scriptures that they don’t understand or don’t agree with. They interpret it with an earthly mindset even though the Bible says the the scripture is spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14—“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”)
It doesn’t make any sense to form your beliefs of a book that you barely know for yourself. I did this in the past and it is a huge mistake.
Our beliefs determine how we think and our lives go the way of our thoughts because we make decisions based on our thought patterns.
What we believe matters. It determines how we deal with circumstances beyond our control and it affects the decisions we make and there is no escaping the consequences of our decisions—good or bad.
If you want a different life, take a look at your beliefs. Do they line up with all of the scripture—(for this is God’s inspired Word and message to us)? If they don’t, seek Him for an understanding of the Bible. Give up your “me-time” and study the Word He has given directly to you. You do not need a go-between person you and Him. (Jeremiah 33:34, John 14:26—“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”)
If you really want to have an understanding of the Bible take the time to study it with a teachable heart. He knows your heart and if you want the truth, He will never fail to show it to you (Luke 16:15). 💗
